Skylor
“Okay, so I really didn’t know I would end up here. I was literally clueless about what my next step would be. I asked myself many times, “Skylor, what are you going to do when you matriculate?” Living in an area where matriculants sit jobless for almost 3 years after they matriculated, I thought I would fall into that same path Then I saw a post about the Communiversity and I applied on the link, and then boom, I received a message that I had to come for an interview. I was quite nervous when I first entered the doors of Communiversity. I asked myself if this is really for me, am I really made for this college stuff? I still remember being interviewed by Wilco and Bradley. I literally sat with tears in my eyes talking to them about my situation and also being the first of my siblings to reach matric and make
it thus far.
But I adapted to it just like that. My teachers are truly the stars here at the Communiversity. I really didn’t know that we have people in this world that are eager to sacrifice their lives for us. And the monitors here are like our mothers. I swear they have been keeping on us from day 1 and are stricter than our parents could ever be. And then there is Mr Meyer. That man was truly an inspiration for me. I really took in what we need to know before walking into the big world even though we just took one step so far.. He really brings out the best in students.
I also have to talk about TM. That was so amazing. I remember the day we were supposed to go meet up with the TM teachers people and to meditate with them face to face. I swear many things went through my head. I mean what would you get out of it? But the Communiversity people really know what they doing, and I have never questioned why they want us to just close our eyes for a few minutes. Then it all made sense at the end when I realized this helped me a lot with stress and took me out the dark place I was in.”
